A number of NHS Trusts launch Faxi journey sharing groups

Last week 12 Faxi groups were launched by various NHS trusts, and over the course of the next few weeks over 8000 NHS employees will be invited to join Faxi groups to optimise and share their journeys to and from work.

Car parking remains a nationwide problem for the NHS but the implementation of a journey sharing community of regular commuters has the potential to not only reduce local traffic and parking congestion, but also significantly reduce the cost for employees who commute to work.

NHS Trusts are ideal communities for the use of Faxi, as many employees travel in the same direction every day without realising that they could be sharing their journey with another employee.

Hayley Morton, Sustainability Officer at Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership NHS Trust commented: “the NHS community is perfect for the Faxi vision as there is a shared common goal to do what is best for others.”

Hayley added that there is already a level of trust within the NHS community as most employees have already undergone DBS checks.

The NHS in Kent is contributing to Faxi innovation by launching Faxi groups at four of their training centres.

Over the coming months, the Faxi platform will be modified to allow users to identify group members travelling on a particular day at a particular time, and will also be introducing a cost calculator and online payment system for journey share contributions.
