FAXI is delighted to be working in partnership with Centro, the organisation responsible for public transport across the West Midlands.
Operating across the seven Metropolitan District Councils of the West Midlands, including Birmingham, Coventry, Dudley, Sandwell, Solihull, Walsall and Wolverhampton, Centro works to ensure that people benefit from an effective transport system which meets the economic and environmental needs of the region, as well as providing access to jobs, finding innovative ways to help reduce congestion and offering seamless connections for people.
Centro has acquired 10 group licenses to encourage greater adoption of journey sharing in and around the West Midlands region. These licenses will be distributed to business parks, local authorities and schools and institutions, and each license holder will promote FAXI to all its members/users who share similar journeys to and from the same destinations every single day.
Alison Pickett, Sustainable Travel Manager at Centro, said: “Car sharing can have a major impact on cutting carbon and reducing the congestion on our streets which costs us billions of pounds each year, but people sometimes don’t know the best way to go about it. Many of the businesses, schools and community groups we work with have said an app would be the ideal way for them to set up car sharing groups between friends and colleagues.
“FAXI gives us the perfect opportunity to provide these groups with the resource they need to start car sharing which can help make journeys easier as well as having a positive effect on our environment and the economy.”
FAXI is looking forward to working together with Centro to help the West Midlands introduce smarter travel choices and encourage journey sharing as a popular alternative to other modes of transport, benefiting communities in and around the region.
