Durham County Council to administer Faxi journey sharing groups as part of Local Motion project

Durham County Council has signed up for 20 Faxi groups as part of the Local Motion project to reduce traffic congestion and emissions across the district and to promote a healthier lifestyle for local communities.

The Faxi groups will initially be aimed at business parks and organisations in the region, to promote active journey sharing communities in workplaces and a healthier lifestyle for employees with improved fitness and reduced stress levels.

Faxi will be used purely for the South Durham area to offer to workplaces and communities as part of its 2011–2015 LSTF project, Local Motion. Durham was awarded funding in the Summer of 2011 to explore new ways of encouraging sustainable travel to the benefit of local communities and economy, and has submitted a bid to the Local Sustainable Transport Fund 2015/16 for funding to extend the Local Motion branded campaign to other areas in Durham.
