Ever considered using an electric bike to get to work? If you haven’t now is the time. E-bikes have exploded in popularity in the past year and are continuing to do so as commuters reap the myriad benefits that they offer.
Our statistics show that many people live within a 5-6 mile radius of their workplace and are still choosing to drive to work when they could easily cycle. Even if you used a ride hailing service like Uber to and from work on the rainy days, it is still much more cost-effective to cycle using an electric bike.
Here are five reasons why the electric bike could change your commute forever:
1. Your commute will be virtually free
Ok, you have to spend a bit of money in the first place to buy an e-bike, but after the initial outlay, you won’t be spending any money on your commute to work. The running costs (apart from a small amount of routine maintenance) are zero. Think of all those coffees you can buy with the savings.
2. You could be getting to work even quicker
Believe it or not, using an electric bike could be a more efficient method of commuting to and from work than travelling by car. If there is heavy traffic, you can often get through it pretty easily on a bike. Also, think about the time that you won’t need to spend driving around looking for a parking space.
3. You can get fit (or fitter)
What you might not know is that with electric bikes, you still cycle. They work like a normal bike, but the difference is, at any point you can let the electric assist kick in (for example, if you’re going up a hill). This means you will still benefit from the exercise without turning up at work needing a shower.
4. Easy manoeuvrability
The freedom you get from cycling to and from work is unrivalled. You can arrive at work without having to worry about finding (and paying for) a parking space, and you can pop out at lunchtime without having the same issue on your return to the office. Plus, with an electric bike, if you have a meeting close by during the day you don’t need to worry about turning up out of breath.
5. Help the environment
We might all feel like we are doing our bit for the environment but cars are one of the most significant sources of harmful emissions which is polluting our air and our planet. By simply reducing the number of cars on the road by using an electric bike instead, you will be contributing to a greener environment.
