The University of Leeds adopts Faxi patented technology to create a network of hundreds of location-aware drivers to transport their community.
Using location data and powerful route match algorithms, the Faxi app will be connecting staff and students alike to provide an internal transport network with the potential to transport all those travelling to the university.
This technology will also provide the University, estimates of the cost savings to drivers carpooling, as well as the environmental benefits with potential emissions saved, and crucially exactly how many carpooling vehicles are in the priority spaces on a given day.
76 priority carpooling spaces will only be available to carpoolers who’ve verified a minimum of 60% of their journeys to the university using Faxi’s carpooling technology. Majid Ahmed, Support Services Manager, “Logging journeys is extremely easy due to the smart app technology that helps users find carpoolers on their route, in-app messaging to arrange the carpools and automatic reminders about carpools.”
This is only the beginning, the data collected will allow the university to run competitions to reward the best carpoolers. This can be done on a whole variety of different metrics, the numbers of journeys taken, the number of passengers picked, or the number of miles of shared journeys completed.
Also, in conjunction with Faxi’s partner Toyota, drivers registering their journeys with Faxi can also opt in to get a safe driver score. Which could result in a discounted insurance premium.
