When was the last time you were stuck in traffic? At a guess, we’d say it was probably today, and likely on your way to or from work. Road congestion in the UK is an increasing problem, and as well as causing localised pollution, it’s also putting strain on businesses which simply cannot provide enough workplace parking for employees.
This is exactly why Slough Borough Council is working with Faxi – to tackle that problem and to offer an alternative sustainable transport solution to businesses across the region. The council will be providing local businesses with the opportunity to set up carpool networks as a solution to local congestion and parking pressures.
If businesses choose to sign up to Faxi, employees can easily connect with colleagues in the app who share the same route and commute times. Our data shows that employers can expect a third of all employees to sign up to the Faxi carpooling initiative – which, if you factor in the volume of employees in single-occupancy across all the businesses in the district – has the potential to take a lot of cars off the roads.
Faxi is the only app-based platform which can provide verified proof of carpooling to employers – this means that businesses who sign up to the scheme can actually obtain proof of which employees are carpooling to work. This enables employers to provide incentives for carpoolers, such as priority on-site parking, or even workplace reward initiatives.
Smart technology in the app makes it really simple for employees, too, by matching co-workers with others who share the same route and commute times. It enables employees to have the flexibility of choosing when they want to carpool to work, and with who, on any given day.
We have collected data from companies across the world, and even with variables in major road networks, employee distribution and working hours, our smart algorithm is able to match commuters with many potential carpooling options with other coworkers, creating a cheap, sustainable, alternative transport network.
With so many benefits, both environmentally and financially, it’s easy to see why Faxi carpooling is a preferable option and gaining popularity for businesses in the UK and worldwide. Currently, the volume of cars versus major road networks and car parking space available is problematic and unsustainable, and more and more businesses are recognising this.
There’s some exciting stuff in the pipeline as we develop our technology, and the next step is to utilise live smart-phone location data to provide real-time shared transport opportunities – a closed, private, reliable, cheap and safe Uber-like network for every employer.
We look forward to seeing businesses across Slough Borough Council adopting the Faxi carpooling scheme, so watch this space!
