Northamptonshire County Council is steering co-workers to rideshare their commutes to mitigate parking and cost issues.
Faxi’s pioneering map-based social network is the key that unlocks the rideshare aspect of this major employer’s travel plan. Over 2,000 commuters were anonymously pre-loaded into the platform, allowing co-workers who share a similar route to message one another and connect to organise their rideshares.
Northamptonshire CEO Paul Blantern is promoting this new service and has very kindly allowed Faxi to reproduce his internal blog for this update.
“The third thing [I wish to speak to you about] is the first part of the One Angel Square travel plan physically appearing with the markings going down for Faxi journey sharing bays at John Dryden House.
This is just a trial at the existing office but it’s good to be able to see something tangible, as well as the live app! Well done James Thorpe for all your work on the travel plan.
And if you haven’t downloaded the Faxi app yet (soon to be on Windows phones as well), I strongly recommend you do. It’s really useful to plan your journey into work for everyone, not just for those working at One Angel Square.
To give you an idea, here’s a screenshot from my device (above), showing who lives on my routes if I want to car-share, whether as a passenger or driver. Car sharing certainly made a huge difference when as a family we used to share the school run with another family. The reason I say that is because we often do things like Skyping or lift-sharing in our personal lives but somehow can’t seem to realise that they have similar benefits in our working lives.
And since the map looks as it is covered in hundreds of Father Christmases, I just want to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and here’s to 2017!
Best wishes, Paul.”
Faxi is contracted to regularly communicate the travel plan with the entire commuter community. The first goal was to recruit drivers as part of a private transport network. In the first month, over 100 commuter drivers have joined the program.
Faxi algorithms will now connect colleagues around shared journeys where costs are automatically shared and ridesharing vehicles qualify for exclusive access to the only commuter car parking on site.
